Procurement of medical equipment for upgradation of Government Medical College, Nagpur, under Phase -II of PMSSY, was undertaken by the Medical College itself. Besides, some of the GMCIs upgraded under Phase -I and Phase-II of PMSSY were assigned procurement of low-end medical equipment costing less than Rs. 30 lakhs. However,as far as procurement by the GMCI is concerned no deficiency in the procurement has been reported to this Ministry. However, for GMC under Phase III, IV & V procurement of equipment is undertaken by M/s HITES (Procurement Support Agency) appointed by Government of India.
The Minister of State (Health and Family Welfare), Sh Ashwini Kumar Choubey stated this in a written reply in the Lok Sabha here today.
