The scheme, launched on 12 April 2005, is under implementation in all states and Union Territories (UTs), with a special focus on Low Performing States (LPS).
Ayushman Bharat, a flagship scheme of Government aims to undertake path breaking interventions to holistically address the healthcare system (covering prevention, promotion and ambulatory care) at the primary, secondary and tertiary level. Ayushman Bharat adopts a continuum of care approach, comprising of two inter-related components, namely Health and Wellness Centres (HWCs) and Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY).
GoI launched Janani Shishu Suraksha Karyakaram (JSSK) in June 2011 to eliminate out-of-pocket expenses for pregnant women delivering in public health institutions and sick infants accessing public health institutions for treatment.
