The Solar Power Developers Association (SPDA) has sought complete exemption of safeguard duty on solar equipment for ongoing projects, saying the duty could jeopardise investments worth Rs. 1 lakh crore and kill thousand of jobs. This comes after the Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR) recently recommended imposition of safeguard duty on imports of solar cells/modules into India for a period of two years.PTI
